Tourism subfield identification via journal clustering

• Thirty-seven journals in Hospitality, Leisure, Sport & Tourism were clustered.
• Five clusters (subfields) are identified based on bibliographic coupling similarity.
• The differences and similarities among them are resolved to gain more insights.
• Tourism and Hospitality journals form two close but distinct subfields.
• A periodic analysis would reveal the shift of the knowledge bases of the subfields.
