► Rural New Zealand schools offer research access to young people for study of grandparenting. ► Most grandchildren share regular everyday activities with their grandparents. ► One third of the grandparents live “close” to their grandchildren in the rural community. ► However over half the grandparents live beyond 90 min travel from these grandchildren.
