Synthesis of SiC powder by RF plasma technique

► Nanosized SiC powder was synthesized from solid precursors using RF thermal plasma. ► Precursors were of various carbon powders and silica. ► Conversion rate is influenced mostly by the excess of carbon. ► Carbonaceous residue of tire pyrolyses performed well.
