The most frequently cited adsorption research articles in the Science Citation Index (Expanded)

► A bibliometric method was used to analyze top-cited articles in adsorption field. ► Five indicators were used to evaluate authors, institutions, and countries. ► Life citation cycle curves of highly cited articles were identified. ► The BET, Langmuir, M41S, PSOM and modified nudged elastic band method were popular.
