AgIO3-modified AgI/TiO2 composites for photocatalytic degradation of p-chlorophenol under visible light irradiation

► AgIO3 modified AgI/TiO2 (AIT) was synthesized by a facile method. ► AIT calcined at 200 °C (AIT200) consisted of AgIO3, AgI, and TiO2 semiconductors. ► The AgIO3 in the AIT served as a sink for the photogenerated electrons. ► The high catalytic activity was maintained after five successive cyclic experiments. ► 4-CP was oxidized by the valence band holes on the surface of the catalysts.
