Synthesis of pH and temperature sensitive, core-shell nano/microgels, by one pot, soap-free emulsion polymerization

► We synthesize temperature and pH sensitive core-shell nanogels. ► One pot, soap-free emulsion polymerization was used. ► The shell consists of polyethylene glycol chains. ► The core contains N-isopropylacrylamide and 2-methacryloyloxybenzoic acid. ► Labile divinyl crosslinker produces smaller nanogels than dimethacrylate crosslinker.
