Complex layering observed in high internal phase emulsions at a silicon surface by neutron reflectometry

► Emulsions can spontaneously form layers at a silicon surface. ► The more hydrophilic the surfactant used, the more the number of layers. ► The layers resemble sections of lamellar bulk phases. ► This surface behaviour follows the trends in bulk emulsion phases.
