Effect of humidity in charge formation and transport in LDPE

► Discrete packets of charge are obtained in LDPE at high electric fields. ► Charge pulse generation and propagation show differences related to humidity. ► Presence of superficial humidity favor charge packet formation and transit speed. ► In wet samples, charge is first accumulated in new superficial trap levels. ► Charge injection in dry samples occurs directly into the bulk.
