Image thresholding based on template matching with arctangent Hausdorff distance measure

► We propose a new thresholding method inspired from the template matching idea. ► We propose a new arctangent Hausdorff distance measure used for estimating similarity. ► The proposed method is independent of the gray level histogram of the image. ► On the average, the proposed method surpasses 11 existing thresholding methods.
