Preparation and characterization of magnesium coating deposited by cold spraying

► It is firstly reported that Mg coatings were deposited by cold spraying. ► The critical velocity of Mg particles was in the range of 653-677 m/s. ► Texture is observed in the coatings fabricated by cold spraying. ► The bonding mechanism of Mg particles is mainly the intensive plastic deformation and mechanical interlocking.
