Development of Al356/SiCp cast composites by injection of SiCp containing composite powders

► SiCp distribution was greatly improved by injection of milled composite powders. ► SiCp distribution was further improved by casting in semisolid state. ► The average SiCp size was greatly reduced by injection of milled composite powders. ► Porosity of the samples was decreased by compocasting and composite powder injection. ► The mechanical properties of compocast (Al-SiCp-Mg)cp composite were greatly increased.
