A proposed maximum ratio criterion applied to mixed mode fatigue crack propagation

► Behavior of crack growth in magnesium alloy plate with a through crack is studied. ► Result of fatigue tests on specimens with different inclined notches is presented. ► A new maximum ratio criterion, Z-criterion is developed to study fatigue cracks. ► Result obtained by new maximum ratio criterion is acceptable as compared to tests. ► New maximum ratio criterion is effective in predicting mixed mode fatigue crack.
