The effects of the welding current on heat input, nugget geometry, and the mechanical and fractural properties of resistance spot welding on Mg/Al dissimilar materials

► In this study the weldability of magnesium AZ31 alloy sheets and aluminum 1350 alloy sheets by resistance spot welding was investigated. ► Heat input increased according to increment at the welding time at welded join. ► TLBC value increased up to 29 kA according to increment of welding time at join. ► Increment of the width of intermetallic phase which was formed at welding nucleus was determined according to heat input increment.
