Liars, truthtellers, and naysayers: A broader view of semantic pathology I

► We explain the broader extent of semantic pathology, beyond truth and the liar paradox. ► Semantic pathology is shown to manifest indeterminacy in complete parallel with inconsistency. ► The two symptoms of semantic pathology are further connected in new, dual-symptom, naysayer cases. ► We explain the best-known responses and how none is able to treat semantic pathology's full extent. ► We conclude that a new approach is needed and sketch some elements of the pretense account we prefer.
