Potential of biomass energy for electricity generation in sub-Saharan Africa

► Biomass gasification for electricity generation in SSA region is proposed. ► Agro residue estimation in the region is carried out using established CRR. ► Power generation potential of about 15000 MW is possible in the region. ► Dual-fuel and gas engines based gasification systems both can be economical.
