Ru(II)-CO complexes of thioarylazoimidazoles: Syntheses, structures, spectroscopy and DFT calculation

In cis-(CO)-trans-(Cl)-[Ru(SRaaiNR)(CO)2Cl2] the SRaaiNR (1-alkyl-2-{(o-thioalkyl)phenylazo}imidazoles) acts as N(imidazole) (N), N(azo) (N′) bidentate chelator while in trans-(Cl)-[Ru(SRaaiNR)(CO)Cl2] it is NN′S tridentate ligand. Electronic structure, spectral and redox properties of the complexes have been explained by the DFT and TDDFT computations.
