A new linear trinuclear Cu(II) complex [Cu3L2(MeCN)2I2](MeCN)2 with semi-coordinated iodides formed through ligand sharing (H2LÂ =Â 1,7-bis(2-hydroxyphenyl)-2,6-diaza-4-hydroxyl-heptane)

A new linear trinuclear copper complex [Cu3L2(MeCN)2I2](MeCN)2 has been structurally and spectroscopically characterised. A strong antiferromagnetic interaction dominates the magnetic property of the trinuclear compound and the relationship between the J value and the ratio Cucentral-O-Cuexternal/O-Cucentral-O has been proven.
