Critical influence of the alkane length in surface and liquid-crystalline properties of perfluorodecyl-n-alkanes

A series of semifluorinated n-alkanes (SFA), of the general formula: F(CF2)m(CH2)nH (in short FmHn) where m = 10 and n = 6-20 has been synthesized and employed for Langmuir monolayer characterization and liquid-crystalline studies.
