Genetic relatedness among fish species of Genus Channa using mitochondrial DNA genes

► Both the mitochondrial genes-16S rRNA and Cytochrome c Oxidase subunit I (COI) are useful as robust molecular markers for species identification in Channids. ► Partial sequences of both 16S rRNA and COI genes clearly differentiate Channa species. ► Both the genes provide sufficient phylogenetic information.
