A necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of positive solutions of singular boundary value problems

Under certain assumptions on the nonlinear-nonhomogenous term f(t,u(t)) of ordinary differential equations associated with fourth order singular boundary value problems, we establish a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of positive solutions of the boundary value problem by means of fixed point theorems.
