Elastic constants of Ultrasonic Additive Manufactured Al 3003-H18

► Wave velocities of UAM parts composed of Al 3003-H18 foils were measured. ► Effective stiffness of the material was reduced due imperfect interfacial bonding. ► Reduction in effective stiffness was most profound in the transverse direction. ► Material stiffness decreased linearly with decreased interfacial bonded area. ► Wave velocity measurements can be used to determine interfacial bond quality in UAM.
