Study of magnetization reversal of Co/Pd bit-patterned media by micro-magnetic simulation

► Quantitatively studied dipolar interaction by experiment and simulation. ► The range of stable single domain island size in Co/Pd BPM is determined. ► Dipolar interactions can change switching field but not reversal process. ► SFD increased from 2σ=1.2 kOe to 1.9 kOe due to dipolar interactions. ► Pattern with size of 10 nm and separation of 20 nm has small SFD and high density.
