Synthesis, characterization, and microwave absorption properties of Fe-40Â wt%Ni alloy prepared by mechanical alloying and annealing

► We prepare face-centered cubic (FCC) Ni (Fe) solid solutions by mechanical alloying and annealing. ► Shape of FeNi alloy powder changes from granular to flaky after wet-milling. ► Absorbers containing flaky FeNi alloys possess higher electromagnetic parameters. ► MAMs with low reflection loss peak in the range of 1-4 GHz are obtained. ► Microwave absorbing properties can be adjustable by modifying the thickness of the absorbers.
