Direct evidence for the magnetic ordering of Nd ions in NdMn2Si2 and NdMn2Ge2 by high resolution inelastic neutron scattering

► A less well-known inelastic neutron scattering technique to probe magnetic ordering of a specific magnetic element, viz. Nd. ► This technique can lead to model-independent determination the magnetic moment of Nd ions. ► The present investigation we resolved an old controversy about ordering of Nd magnetic moment in NdMn2Si2 and NdMn2Ge2.
