An alternative approach to field-aligned coordinates for plasma turbulence simulations

► We explore a new approach to field-aligned coordinates for plasma turbulence models. ► The new approach has many advantages and further extensions can be obtained. ► A comparison with the old method is given for a test model using equivalent codes. ► Interesting properties of the test model are uncovered.
