A new lattice model of traffic flow with the anticipation effect of potential lane changing

► A new traffic lattice model with the anticipation effect of potential lane changing is proposed. ► The anticipation effect of potential lane changing on the stability of traffic has been explored. ► The mKdV equation near the critical point is constructed and solved through nonlinear analysis. ► Simulation confirms that the anticipation effect of potential lane changing can improve the traffic stability.
