Spectral sum rules and search for periodicities in DNA sequences

► We study the significance criteria for latent periodicities in DNA sequences. ► The constraints imposed by sum rules can be described with De Finetti distribution. ► It is intermediate between Rayleigh distribution and exact combinatoric theory. ► Theory is applicable to the study of correlations between different periodicities. ► The approach can be generalized to the arbitrary discrete Fourier transform.
