Interactions and asymptotics of dispersive shock waves - Korteweg-de Vries equation

► Long-time asymptotics of the KdV equation with nonzero boundary values. ► We find that well-separated steps eventually lead to a single dispersive shock wave. ► This is similar to interacting viscous shock waves, which also eventually merge to one.
