Measurement of radon in the East Europe under the ground

Results of long-term measurements of radon in soil and air in the galleries and caves in Northern Caucasus are shown. As detectors of soil radon are used semi-conductor and scintillation automatic gauges and solid state nuclear track detectors (SSNTDs). Radon is measured in air only with SSNTDs. These detectors were replaced every month. All results are compared to the data on earthquakes and meteorological factors. Average monthly changes of concentration of soil radon in a gallery are observed for 3 months before the change of a number of local earthquakes. Also hour “bursts” in concentration of soil radon in all galleries 9±1 day before regional earthquakes are observed. Changes of concentration of radon in air of caves and galleries basically it is connected to a difference of temperatures outside and inside. Therefore application of these earthquakes given for the forecast is complicated. Results of measurement of radon in air of caves in Northern Caucasus are compared to the same results received in a cave in Poland. The general laws in results are observed.
