Role of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE and ACE2) imbalance on tourniquet-induced remote kidney injury in a mouse hindlimb ischemia-reperfusion model

► Limb ischemia-reperfusion (LIR) induced renal injury via oxidative stress in mice. ► Imbalance of ACE and ACE2 expression occurred in local kidney tissue in LIR mice. ► Loss of ACE2 worsened the imbalance of ACE and ACE2 and renal injury. ► These conditions were improved in ACE2 transgenic mice subjected to LIR.
