Application of the Advanced Public Transport System in Cities of China and the Prospect of Its Future Development

Intelligent transportation system (ITS) is the most important approach accepted worldwide to solve the problem of traffic congestion in cities, with distinctly low cost-effectiveness ratio. Advanced public transport system (APTS), is one of the most important divisions of the urban transportation system, and many attempts related to the application of APTS have been put forth during recent years. In this paper, the present status of the application of APTS in cities has been analyzed. It also includes an analysis of the possible future application and improvement of APTS based on the present situation in China.
