Effects of gender and regional dialect on prosodic patterns in American English

► We explored prosodic variation in two regional varieties of American English. ► Prosodic variation was analyzed for speaking rate and intonation contour. ► Results revealed dialect differences in pausing, pitch accents, and phrasing. ► Significant gender effects were also observed for pitch accents and phrasing.
