“Одержимый правдой” Варлам Шаламов в хронике Александра Гладкова (по дневникам 1961–1975 гг.)

The article examines the references to Varlam Shalamov in the diaries of Aleksandr Gladkov, as well as other traces of their communication during the years 1961–1976. Gladkov did not break off their relations even after the publication of the infamous letter by Shalamov from 23 February 1972 in the Literaturnaia gazeta. It turns out that the opinion of “progressive humanity” (as Shalamov contemptuously calls the liberal intelligentsia), that definitely disapproved this action, for Gladkov is not important. The publication and commentaries also shed light on various events and personal relations in Russia's literary life in this period. In an appendix relations with Aleksandr Tvardovskii are discussed.
