Within the new educational framework, study programs for foreign students who attend the preparatory year in order to learn Romanian have undergone lots of changes to meet the requirements imposed by the reform of the educational system and to fulfill the objectives of the globalization policy. As a result, the number of Romanian classes in the curriculum of the preparatory year was reduced from 28 hours/week to 24 hours/week for the second semester, but, in addition, classes of Romanian Culture and Civilization came to supplement them.The present study is based on the results of an investigation carried out within the Romanian Culture and Civilization classes, whose main aim was not only to familiarize the students with the Romanian culture, but also to help them better interact and function as a homogeneous group in spite of their cultural diversity. The paper aims at studying to what degree cultural diversity and cultural identity marks specific to students coming from various countries can be used for facilitating their adaptation to the culture and mentality of the host country.
