Gender History and the History of Women in Higher Education: An Educational Innovation Project

The goal of the interdisciplinary project presented here is to raise awareness among students taking a degree in history at various Spanish universities about the role played by women in the past, as a means to better understand the current situation of women in our society. Employing a self-directed and cooperative learning approach, and using all possible sources of information (the literature, the internet, audiovisual media, etc.), a series of practical activities will be incorporated into various subjects on the degree course. In addition to fomenting tolerance and a social conscience among students, these activities will serve to enrich their knowledge of a reality that, in general, receives little attention in the different subjects forming degree programmes.
