Dynamics of Changes toward Knowledge-based Economy in Slovak SMEs

Procedures enhancing evolvement of knowledge-based society were stipulated in the Lisbon Strategy (in the horizon of 2010). However, the European Commission has not given up the direction since. On 3 March 2010 it introduced a new initiative called Europe 2020 comprising the European Union's plans of economic progress for the coming period. The main objective stays the same: development of the European knowledge-based economy via innovations.Slovak economy and its organizations face the identical situation. To increase their competitiveness they have to introduce innovations. The paper deals with the findings related to the implementation of the organizational innovations as well as barriers impairing their adoption and motivators enhancing their introduction.
