Gravitational Model of the Occupational Mobility of the Higher Education Graduates

Our paper explores the patterns of occupational mobility using a theoretical framework which integrates elements from job matching and human capital theories. We employ a network analysis approach and consider occupations as nodes and flows of individuals moving from one occupation to another as links. By testing a gravity model on data containing working histories of higher education graduates in their first years of employment, we identify factors shaping occupational mobility from their first to second job.
