The Rawlsian Way of Doing History of Political Philosophy

The paper discusses Rawls’ method of doing history of political philosophy, which combines two approaches – namely the “reflective-comparative approach” and the “contextual approach.” These approaches are innovative and interesting for studying Rawls in tandem with other philosophers from the past, but they prove to be in tension with each other if used as methods for a comprehensive study of the history of political philosophy.
