Effect of Self-Esteem and Self-Efficacy in Family Dynamics

The present study aims at understanding the dynamics of Self-esteem and its source in the family. The study intends to examine the relationship between the Self-esteem of the parents and the influence it generates on the children in the family. Some cultures value findings of the study show that weight concerns do correlate negatively with self efficacy but there is no clear cut causal relationship between physical attraction which unequivocally affects how people view, think and behave with people who vary in attractiveness. The more ‘attractive’ one is s/he gains to get attention from others and reinforces behaviors that consequently develop in socially desirable traits. The parental Self-esteem and that of children the major influencing factors for Self-esteem were attributed to the peers and the mass media.
