Cuando don Carnal se viste de negro: la negritud nuestroamericana entre “lo negro” y “lo afrodescendiente”

ResumenMediante un recorrido por algunas de las principales manifestaciones carnava-leras latinoamericanas en las que predomina o se evidencia la raíz africana, el presente trabajo explora dilemas raciales, analíticos y político-culturales que las nociones de “negro” y “afrodescendiente” han enfrentado en el espacio nuestroamericano, con miras a proponer una tipología cartográfica de las negritudes regionales. La frase, a la vez con tingente y específica, “Don Carnal cuando se viste de negro” permite articular sujetos, escenificaciones y significaciones que muestran, desde un lugar a otro, los diversos estados de legitimidad e ilegitimidad de dichas negritudes, tanto en el nivel simbólico como material, contextualizadas en la relación histórica entre fiesta y sociedad.

By walking through some of the major events in the form of Latin American carnivals in which predominate or evidence African roots, this paper explores racial, analytical and political-cultural dilemmas that have confronted the notions of black and African descent in our own space, with a view to proposing a typology of regional cartographic negritudes. The phrase “When don Carnal dresses in black” allows to articulate subjects, performances and meanings that show, from one place to another, the various states of legitimacy of such negritudes in the context of celebrations and society.
