Simbolismo en el templo parroquial de Santiago Apóstol en Halachó, Yucatán

ResumenEl objetivo del presente ensayo es señalar el simbolismo y las condiciones históricas que hicieron posible el proyecto formal y la construcción del conjunto parroquial de Santiago Apóstol de Halachó Yucatán. privilegiamos el análisis de dos de sus principales elementos, fachada y nave, donde se aprecia la clara intención de sus (desconocidos) diseñadores por fortalecer el simbolismo del Santo Patrón. Se trata de un templo parroquial del siglo xviii que no acude ni al simbolismo ni al modelo espacial de las parroquias del Altiplano virreinal y, si bien no destaca por su calidad artística exquisita o por su monumentalidad, sí lo hace como representación de una arquitectura religiosa novohispana peninsular, a la vez que regional de la nueva España.

AbsctractThe intention of this essay is to point out the symbolism and historical conditions, which made possible the formal project and the building of the complex parish of Santiago Apostle of Halachó Yucatan. We favor the analysis of two of its main elements, façade and nave where we can perceive the intention of its (unknown) designers by strengthening the symbolism of the Patron Saint. It is a parish church in 18th century whose symbolism or the spatial do not follow the model of the parishes in the colonial Highlands. This case studied is a work that is not known for its exquisite artistic quality or for its monumentality, but also because it represents a Peninsular New Spain religious architecture, as well as regional of the New Spain architecture.
