Effects of higher-order multipoles on the performance of a two-plate quadrupole ion trap mass analyzer

▶ Higher-order multipole components are varied individually in a novel quadrupole ion trap. ▶ Variations in octopole and dodecapole affect resolution, signal-to-noise, and dipole ejection. ▶ The results of forward vs. reverse scan are given for various combinations of higher-order fields.
