Bis-benzimidazolyl diamide copper (II) complexes: Synthesis, crystal structure and oxidation of substituted amino phenols

► A new ligand N,N′-Bis (1-butyl-benzimidazol-2-yl-methyl)-hexane-1,6-dicarboxamide has been synthesized and characterized. ► Copper (II) complexes of ligand have been characterized by X-ray crystallography, EPR, CV, IR and UV-visible. ► Complex 1 is tetragonally distorted octahedral. ► Complex 2 is distorted square pyramidal. ► The complexes carry out the oxidation of substituted amino phenols and mimics the phenoxazinone synthase activity.
