Synthesis and crystal structure of (μ4-oxido)hexakis(μ-chlorido)tetrakis(2-(3-pyridyl)ethane-1-ol)tetracopper(II)

► A new oxide- and chloride-bridged tetranuclear Cu(II) compound has been prepared. ► The hydroxyl groups form intermolecular hydrogen bonds stabilizing the structures. ► Structure shows uncommon hydrogen bonds between 4 clusters and short Cl-Cl contacts. ► The 3-hydroxyethylpyridine binds with pyridine nitrogen to Cu.
