Hydrothermal synthesis, crystal structures and photoluminescence of a 2D cadmium(II) coordination polymer based on in situ synthesized tetrazole derivative ligand

► The in situ cycloaddition reaction afforded a new tetrazolate-based mtzbˉ ligand. ► The cross-linkage of the Cd(II) atoms and mtzbˉ ligands forms a 2D layer network. ► The obtained polymer exhibits a strong blue ligand-centered emission.
