Two novel Zn(II) coordination polymers based on a carboxylate functionalized imidazophenanthroline derivative ligand

► 1. Two different novel zinc(II) coordination polymers, [Zn2(Hcpip)2(ox)]n·2nH2O (1) and [Zn4(Hcpip)2(cpip)2(ox)]n·5nH2O (2), have been hydrothermally synthesized by controlling the pH values. ► 2. The dinuclear zinc(II) units are linked through oxalate anions to form 1D and 2D coordination polymers 1 and 2. ► 3. The 3D supramolecular structures are constructed by hydrogen bonding and π…π stacking interactions. ► 4. Coordination polymers 1 and 2 possess strong luminescence and good thermal stabilities.
