Temperature-induced two copper (II) supramolecular isomers constructed from 2-ethyl-1H-imidazole-4, 5-dicarboxlylate

Two copper (II) supramolecular isomers 1a and 1b formulated as [Cu(H2EDC)2]n (H3EDC = 2-ethyl-1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarboxlylate) have been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Coordination modes, hydrogen bonding interactions and stacking modes are different in the two isomers. Meanwhile, luminescent properties of the complexes were studied.

Two copper (II) supramolecular isomers (1a and 1b) have been hydrothermally synthesized via reaction of 2-ethyl-1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarboxlylate and CuCl2 under different temperature. The results reveal that 1a presents slipped ABAB… packing mode while 1b contains AAAA…mode.
