Hollow zeolite spheres of silicalite-1 with monolayered, homogeneous and dense zeolitic shells have been synthesized using oil/water emulsions as templates for the first time. As-prepared spheres are stable and can keep intact after calcination. Additionally, the morphology and N2 adsorption have been characterized.

► Hollow silicalite-1 spheres have been synthesized using oil/water emulsions. Silicalite-1 nanocrystals act as both the emulsifier and stabilizer in emulsions. Oil phase acts as a template in the formation of zeolite spheres.
