An unprecedented example of polyoxotungstates: Synthesis and characterization of an octatungstate complex [W8O19L3(acac)4] (L = −O(CH2)3S(CH2)3O−)

A new polyoxotungstate cluster [W8O19L3(acac)4] (L = −O(CH2)3S(CH2)3O −; acac = acetylacetonate), was synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure of the octatungstate cluster exhibits a novel unprecedented polyoxotungstate mode.

The reaction of WO2(acac)2 with bis(3-hydroxypropyl)sulfide yields a novel octatungstate-supported molecular cluster [W8O19L3(acac)4] (L = −O (CH2)3S(CH2)3O−; acac = acetylacetonate), which exhibits an unprecedented polyoxotungstate mode.
