• 2-(2′-Hydroxyphenyl)-2-oxazoline is shown to be a highly-selective Zn2 + sensor with very simple molecular structure. It demonstrates an excellent fluorescence “turn-on” response to Zn2 + in aqueous medium even in the presence of other competing anions and detection capability for studying the distribution of Zn2 + in living human HeLa cells as a proof-of-concept.
